Five Ordinations on Cincinnati Super Sabbath
A "super" Sabbath in Cincinnati usually means a combined service either followed or preceded by a luncheon with a congregation-wide Bible study and fellowship at the conclusion of the day. The super Sabbath of August 6 was especially super.
After combined services in the morning, interim pastor Gary Antion asked all of the members to remain seated as there was a special event to take place. He announced that after taking recommendations from the brethren, meetings with the deacons/deaconesses and elders and with the approval of the incoming pastor Steve Myers, there would be five ordinations.
He called out the names of the individuals who had been serving for a number of years in various aspects of the congregation. They were: Fred and Judy Fenner, Troy Phelps, Dan Preston and Eileen Sharkey. All of the elders came forward to lay hands on the individuals. After a general prayer for God’s blessing on the ordinations, Ed Smith led in the ordinations of Fred and Judy Fenner. He was followed by Matthew Fenchel praying for the ordination of Troy Phelps and finally Gary Antion led in the ordinations of Dan Preston and Eileen Sharkey.
We are grateful to God for the many servants that we have in Cincinnati. Many cried tears of joy because those who were ordained have been serving the brethren faithfully.
It was indeed a super Sabbath!
