The Five-Mile Road
Have you heard of the colonists who landed in America and within the first year established a town?
The next year they chose town leaders, who by the third year decided to build a road five miles west into the wilderness.
By the fourth year, the settlers wanted to impeach their leaders. They thought it was a waste of money to build a road five miles into a wilderness. Who needed to go way out there anyway?
Now these were people who saw thousands of miles across the ocean and overcame tremendous obstacles to reach the promise of the New World. But in just a few short years they weren’t able to see even five miles out of town. They had lost their vision.
Don’t lose sight of what’s most important. Do you understand the big picture of life? Seek the true vision and build that “five-mile road” to the future.
