Wrestling With God to "Whatever"
Some mornings I know I can't leave the house without wrestling with God in prayer for a blessing on the day.
I just know that some days are going to require a bit more help from God to navigate. The weather is gloomy. I don't feel like going to work – I'd rather do something else, but I have a job and responsibilities. Other times it’s the stress of age and life or just another day of "whatever". We all have those days.
It is these days I remember the story of Jacob wrestling all night with God. As the day was breaking the Man (God) said, "Let me go, for the day breaks". Jacob said, "I will not let You go unless You bless me" (Genesis 32:26).
Jacob received the blessing of a new name. Now I am not looking for a new name but I take from this the truth that sometimes I need to stay on my knees in the early morning hours, and not leave my house, until I know I have received the help I need (a blessing?) to go through the day. That "blessing" may be wisdom, peace of mind, a sense of joy, grace or "whatever". I know when I have it and it's time to get up and go.
Use your early morning time to "wrestle" the blessing from God. Don't leave until you have it. I think there are times when God wants to see us stay with Him just a little longer in persevering prayer.
Stay with God and wrestle with Him till you receive your “whatever”.
