UCG Announcements (9.14.24): Combined Service – Sabbath School & Teen Bible Study Classes Begin

Hi everyone,

It you weren’t attending this evening’s online Bible study, Happy Sabbath! For those who attended the study, we made our way through Revelation 8 and the Seven Trumpets of Revelation. We also began Revelation 9. We will start there next Friday evening at 7:30 PM. It will be the last study we do before the Fall Feasts. (We will resume these Bible Studies again on Nov. 1.) As for next week, be sure to read Revelation 9 before next Friday’s study. In the meantime, here are this week’s announcements.

1. Tomorrow, we are set for a combined Atlanta/Buford Sabbath Service at Unity Atlanta at 2:30 PM. We will meet at Unity Atlanta in Peachtree Corners for services. Because of our recent covered-dish meal, we do not have another congregational meal until the Feast of Trumpets. See the calendar items below for the theme of that meal.

2. Our first Sabbath School and Teen Bible Study classes of this academic year take place tomorrow. Parents and young people note that we are not allowing smart phones in this year’s classes. That means that all of our young people must have a hard-copy Bible in hand. Thank you for being prepared for this first class of the academic year.

3. Atlanta Webcast Tomorrow. If you feel ill this Sabbath, be sure to watch the Atlanta webcast tomorrow online. To view the service, enter the password tree of life (with no spaces) in the channel password box. The URL location is: https://www.ucg.org/congregations/atlanta-ga/webcast

4. The Atlanta Braves Baseball Game: Ticket Payment Due! The Atlanta Braves Baseball outing is less than a month away. To ensure we get the tickets we’ve reserved, now is the time for payment. Casey McShay offers the following information below regarding payment for those who’ve reserved a seat or seats for the event. To those attending the Braves game on Sunday, September 29th, please send in your payment to Casey McShay via PayPal, Zelle, or cash by September 7th. The tickets are $31.50/person.

5. The next UCG Atlanta Bible Study on Revelation takes place on September 20 at 7:30 PM. We will continue through the Book of Revelation. Be sure to read the next section of scripture in advance, and plan to tune in and continue with these studies.

6. This Sunday is our 2024 Atlanta/Buford Summer Picnic. Thanks to generous contributions from our brethren, this year's Atlanta/Buford Summer Picnic lunch will be covered for all attendees who signed up.

The 2024 Atlanta/Buford Summer Picnic will take place at Cauble Park on Lake Acworth on Sunday, September 15 at 11:30 am. Cauble Park is a beautiful lakeside park in Acworth boasting a sand beach with designated swimming area, shaded picnic pavilion areas, a large playground, boat ramp (for non-motorized boats such as kayaks, canoes, or stand-up paddle boards), and a fishing dock (fishing licenses are required).

Date: Sunday, September 15

Time: 11:30 AM

Location: Pavilion 5 at Cauble Park - 4425 Beach Street, Acworth, GA 30101

Parking: Since our picnic will take place in the "offseason" after Labor Day, parking will be free but may be limited.

Suggested items to bring picnic blankets, beach chairs, sand toys, sunscreen, towels, swimsuits, lawn games, etc.

If you have any specific questions, please contact Sierra Briggs directly at sierra.gomperts@gmail.com or 760-917-7093

7. Daily Bible Reading Program Reminder. Don’t forget to participate in the special daily Bible reading program we introduced a few weeks ago. In unity, the entire Church is reading through the book of Deuteronomy. Don’t miss out on this valuable opportunity for daily Bible reading and study. The reading schedule is available by going to the ucg.org (http ://ucg.org/) home page and clicking on the link for “Daily Bible Reading: The Book of Deuteronomy” or by clicking

here: ucg.org/members/news/daily-bible-reading-the-book-of- deuteronomy (https://www.ucg.org/members/news/daily-bible-reading- the-book-of-deuteronomy). Be sure to read the chapter and commentary with your family and discuss it together.

Let’s take advantage of this special activity as the entire Church throughout the world reads and meditates on the same passages each day. —Steve Myers, Operation Manager, Ministerial and Member Services

As of today (9.13.24), we have read Deuteronomy 15.

8. The 2024 Festival Youth Instruction lesson plans are available for the upcoming Feast of Tabernacles. These lesson plans may help youth instructors at the Feast. You can click on "Downloads" on the right-hand side of this page to download the PDFs. We have provided two separate lessons to be used on the usual two youth instruction classes that take place during the Feast, with the expectation that Lesson 1 will be taught earlier in the Feast and Lesson 2 will be taught later in the week. There are two lessons for grades K-2, and two lessons for grades 3-6. Crafts and activities are provided with the lesson plan for your convenience, along with colored instructions.

Go here for these lesson plans: https://www.ucg.org/members/news/2024-festival-youth-instruction

Thank you for serving God's children at the Feast of Tabernacles and teaching them God's Way!

9. Festival Excused Absence Form. If you need an Excused Absence Form for the Fall Holy Days, please see an elder. You may contact Jerold Aust, Charlie Graby, Steve Holladay, or me for this document. We are here to serve.
