Greetings Brethren!
Have we ever considered that when God calls us to his way of life that we are invited to “come as we are”?
It’s true! Notice in 1 Corinthians the type of people that God sometimes invites:
1 Corinthians 6:9 Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites,
1 Corinthians 6:10 nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God.
1 Corinthians 6:11 And such were some of you. But you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of our God.
God doesn’t say “Wait until you’re perfect and THEN accept your calling”. All he wants us to do is RECOGNIZE our wrong doing and RECOGNIZE that we’re powerless to overcome these demons on our own.
He wants to change us. He wants to alter us. He wants us to transform into the people we need to be to become his children. And he WILL do that IF we let him.
So yes, God wants you to come as you are. But he also wants a willing heart. A heart that recognizes that it’s broken and deficient. A heart that wants to be transformed by the love of Jesus Christ.
Take care and see you soon!
Doug
