Anchorage Feast cautions: Mud Flats, Moose and Reindeer Sausage
Public
Greetings again everyone,
The Feast is very close!
Just a couple of precautions, and I will say more at the Feast:
Beware of the Mud Flats (Cook Inlet and elsewhere) at low tide. Over the years, some have walked out on them and gotten stuck in the mud and it can quickly become a life threatening situation when the tide comes back in.
There are plenty of Moose in Alaska. They may look peaceful, but they can charge humans and can cause serious injury. The same can be said of bears (encounters are infrequent). Travel in groups.
And, Reindeer meat is clean but the sausage is usually mixed with pork. So unless you know who made the sausage, it is best to avoid it.
Looking forward to seeing everyone soon!
