Youth Day Event at Animal World Snake Farm Zoo

This year we will hold a youth day event for families at the Animal World Snake Farm Zoo.

(The Zoo requires masks indoors only for ages 10 & up)

For half a century, the “Snake Farm” has been one the most prominent must-see attractions in the San Antonio/Austin area. Its establishment in 1967 provided a home to an extensive collection of snakes, reptiles and other exotic mammals. With its historic roots and loyal fan base, the “Snake Farm” quickly became a popular roadside attraction that both locals and travelers were drawn to.

In 2007, the facility received new ownership and big plans. The Snake Farm has since transitioned to Animal World & Snake Farm Zoo— a fully accredited zoological park that homes over 500 different species of animals. Being accredited by the Zoological Association of America means that the Zoo has a special focus on superior animal husbandry, conservation, education, and research.

Our youth day event will feature two animal encounters, one with a fennec fox, and the other with a Burmese python! We are scheduled to begin at 1 pm and you can stay as long as you like! There are picnic tables around the zoo that you can use if you would like to bring food and have lunch there. Other than the two scheduled animal encounters, you are free to walk around the zoo at your own pace. 

While you’re enjoying your visit at Animal World & Snake Farm Zoo, be sure to stop by Two Rivers Mining Co.— the Zoo’s very own gemstone mine!  You’ll be given an incredible opportunity to pan for gemstones, fossils, crystals, and shark teeth, among other rocks and minerals. Take a nice break from the crazy Texas weather under the shaded deck, equipped with classic western music and a perfect viewing node to see the bison and longhorn.
