2015 Feast of Tabernacles Report
Freeport, Bahamas
“Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity” (Psalm 133:1).
As our great Creator held back Hurricane Joaquin, for eight days Feast-keepers from many areas of the U.S. and other lands celebrated God’s holy time with their Bahamian brothers and sisters. There were about 70 of us all together each day, in the peaceful beauty of the Grand Lucayan resort in Freeport, Bahamas.
With warm sea breezes drifting across bluer-than-blue waters, under a canopy of gesturing palm trees, the children played and practiced their special music to be performed on the Eighth Day. The energetic among us enjoyed parasailing, snorkeling, fishing and exploring underwater sea life through various venues, while others of us lounged, relaxed and basked in the tropical climate of the islands.
Dining opportunities were plentiful, from informal to more conservative settings. To the delight of shoppers there were unique items to be purchased and brought back home to remember their Feast of Tabernacles. And for the pleasure of all attending there was a bounty of spiritual food, precious words spoken via messages God gave us through those who blessed us each day with their ability to paint a picture of tomorrow’s world and the return of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Added to this, a fascinating Bible study presentation provided a radiant view of our heavenly Father’s creation in all of its wonder and splendor.
Our Bahamian night featured a potluck buffet—savory samplings of local cuisine—offered by our Bahamian brethren at the hall where they meet in Freeport for weekly Sabbath services. All visiting brethren on this festive occasion were captivated by the Bahamian warmth, hospitality and genuine show of outflowing love. “How good and how pleasant.”
