2018 Feast of Tabernacles
Blantyre, Malawi
This is where 107 members—mostly from the southern part of Malawi—assemble for weekly services. It was therefore only right and proper that the 2018 Feast of Tabernacles take place on this piece of land.
Sermons took center stage. Notable were sermons on God’s Kingdom to be established on earth under the leadership of Jesus Christ. Topics included: “Rejoice With Purpose,” “Preparing for God’s Kingdom,” “Millennial Education” and “No One Shall Make Them Afraid.” The sermons were inspiring and uplifting, picturing how life will be in the wonderful world tomorrow.
During the Feast, brethren had delicious group meals on a daily basis. These were some of the highlights of the activities: men’s and women’s seminar, children’s treat, variety show, family day and a Feast dance. Special music spiced up the services and was sung by the children’s choir and the main choirs. We had a lot of fun during the variety show. Some youths composed songs by observing interesting issues that were happening during the Feast.
A field trip was organized for the brethren to appreciate the wildlife. We drove almost 72 kilometers down south to a place called Majete Wildlife Reserve. The reserve boasts a wildlife population that includes elephants, lions, leopards, antelopes and zebras. Members had a good time and surprisingly for some members, this was their first time to see wild animals.
While driving around the reserve, the road was blocked on two occasions by elephants forcing the game rangers to move us back. It was one of those moments where the brethren were reminded of the vicious nature of animals that will be changed in the world tomorrow.
But on the whole, the trip was an eye-opener. It started on a high note and ended on a marvelous note having gone through the experience with the elephants. The 2018 Feast was attended by over 100 brethren. These included three senior members who are in their late 80s.
All in all, it was a very successful Feast of Tabernacles.
