2018 Feast of Tabernacles
Cape Coast, Ghana
Attendance was around 215. Services were held at Ghana National Association of Teachers. Most of the brethren stayed on-site. A tent was set up for cooking meals. American visitors, Paul Moody, senior pastor for West Africa, and Darrell and Janet Keisel were welcomed with the warmest Ghanaian hospitality.
All services were translated between English and Fante. Sermons focused on preparing for the Millenium, and what it will be like—including the challenges. The Eighth Day sermon left us with a vision of going forward to New Jerusalem. As Mr. Meselebe put it in his sermon about preparing to be in the Kingdom and our need to be more like God and Christ: “Who wouldn’t want to be there?” Mr. Moody offered an interactive Bible study about marriage and dating, giving the brethren opportunity to discuss godly principles.
Cape Coast is a lovely location near the ocean. One of the popular activities was having fun on the beach. Other activities included a tour of the slave castle, a canopy walk, petting crocodiles, communal meals, exciting games of football and indoor games (including pit, a popular game in Ghana), card games and an apple-eating contest. Activities were enthusiastically participated in by the Feastgoers.
It was wonderful for all four Ghanaian congregations to assemble together. Every day the smiling faces, hugs and handshakes brightened the day.
Too quickly eight days had ended and we had to say goodbye until next year. We could all take home memories of time bonding with our church family, and a vision of what God has in store for us.
