ABC Alumni Raise Money for Ronald McDonald House
On a calm and balmy day, Sunday, August 21, Ambassador Bible Center alumni and current students came together to hold a car wash in the parking lot of a local CVS in Cincinnati to support the Ronald McDonald House. Ronald McDonald Houses were created to provide a "home away from home" for families to stay, regardless of their ability to pay, while their children receive medical care in an area hospital.
"Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all your might" (Ecclesiastes 9:10) could not have been more true during the four-hour car wash. While some students and alumni stood (or jumped) with large signs exclaiming the charity car wash on a busy street corner, others worked diligently to remove all traces of dirt on any car that came their way. Whether the donation was large or small, equal care was given to each vehicle. Amazingly, five different people gave additional donations after they saw the thorough job the students and alumni did! Passersby gave money without even stopping to have their cars washed! By the time it was finished, the volunteers had washed 33 cars and received a total donation of $420.53.
In prior years, we’ve used money we’ve raised to prepare an Italian meal for the residents at the local Ronald McDonald House. Our plan is to use this year’s donations to prepare and serve a similar dinner in November, which involves creating the menu, bringing all the ingredients and providing the labor to prepare and serve the meal to the families.
This was the third annual alumni car wash for the Ronald McDonald House. The ABC Alumni Association plans to continue holding a car wash every summer so we can provide at least one yearly meal there. If you happen to be in Cincinnati next year when we hold our fourth car wash, stop by—we’ll happily make your car gleam!
