Camp Report
Preteen Camp Colorado
We had an extraordinary camp experience in the majestic Rocky Mountains June 15-18! Camp Colorado was bursting with increased energy and enthusiasm as we nearly doubled in size from 2013. 50 excited young campers, along with 15 teen staff and 35 adult staff grew to love and care for each other as we became one big family for four days and three nights. Everyone worked together as we focused upon our theme for this summer’s camp, “Remember Your Creator in the Days of Your Youth.”
God was certainly gracious as He blessed us with absolutely gorgeous weather and no serious injuries. The campers were especially attentive during our campfire Bible challenges and they energetically responded with their answers. It was gratifying to see that our young people are very interested in learning about the Bible and the ways of God our Father and Jesus Christ. Everyone also greatly enjoyed our nightly sing-a-longs around a roaring camp fire.
Throughout camp we stressed the importance of establishing a close relationship with the Father and Son in our daily compass checks and Christian living classes given by a variety of knowledgeable and dedicated men. Most of our teen staff had been campers at Camp Colorado in the past and they were a big help to our very conscientious and hardworking counselors. The camp ran very smoothly with all our staff members pitching in together to fulfill every need.
The children loved their canoeing, archery, and arts and crafts classes. The field games were especially fun as we played water balloon tag with hundreds of water balloons on a very warm and beautiful morning. We also went on two nature hikes to experience the beauty of God’s creation in one of the most beautiful spots on earth. And again we had an afternoon filled with a puppet workshop where our campers and many staff made their own puppets and the children put on some very creative Bible-based plays for everyone’s enjoyment.
Consider joining us next year at Camp Colorado June 7-10, 2015.
