Feast of Tabernacles—Prince Edward Island, Canada!
The Feast in PEI offers an excellent opportunity to enjoy awesome scenery, great food and hospitality and help celebrate Canada’s 150th birthday!
You will find convenient opportunities to explore the countryside with many parks and oceanside drives including renowned Anne of Green Gables. Anne of Green Gables attracts visitors from all over the world, and the fabled book has been translated into numerous languages and has been the inspiration for multiple plays, movies and television series. Popular Cavendish Beach is also located nearby. All of these are easily accessible from the Rodd Brudenell Resort where the Feast will be held this fall. In addition, PEI produces what are considered Canada’s best-tasting potatoes, grown in the rich red soil of the island—they are a must to taste and are rivaled only by a comparable spud from Idaho!
It is only a half-hour drive to the Rodd Brudenell Resort from the Charlottetown airport. However, you may wish to compare airfares and car rentals other than the direct route to Charlottetown to expand your Feast experience to eastern Canada.
For instance, you could fly into the nearby city of Moncton, New Brunswick, and in so doing tour portions of this lovely province with its rustic charm and attractive scenery. Moncton is not far from the Confederation Bridge leading conveniently to the Prince Edward Island.
You could also consider flying to the city of Saint John, New Brunswick, which would allow you to similarly rent a car to do a wee bit more touring before you drive across the bridge to Prince Edward Island and the easily accessible Rodd Brudenell Resort. The drive time is about two hours.
One other option is to fly into Halifax, Nova Scotia, and take in the history and sites of this city founded in 1749. Near Halifax, you can experience visiting historic settlements and artisan shops and the many lighthouses that abound seemingly everywhere. It also affords the time to visit such landmarks as Peggy’s Cove and Lunenburg before embarking on a pleasant three-and-a-half-hour drive to PEI.
