Retirement Celebration in Medford and Surprise Retirement Celebration at the Feast
Additionally the congregation purchased a farm share for them, and they will receive a box of produce every week during the 2017 growing season. After the presentation a potluck followed with much lively fellowship.
The Walkers faithfully served the Medford congregation while residing about 150 miles away. This meant trips through the mountains in adverse conditions and a lot of late night driving to return to their home in La Pine. We are so grateful for the sacrifices they made to make sure that the Medford congregation was being spiritually nourished and cared for. We were happy to hear that they plan to visit regularly!
Also, on Wednesday, Oct. 19, 2016, during the Feast of Tabernacles the Bend, Oregon, congregation, along with over 500 of our brothers and sisters, surprised Larry and Karen Walker by acknowledging their retirement from pastoring the Bend and Medford, Oregon, congregations.
At the close of services our Northwest regional pastor Steve Nutzman called them to the stage and presented them with some special gifts the brethren purchased. Mr. Walker received a very nice watch, and Mrs. Walker received a gift card for a local jewelry store.
Afterwards we moved to a room where the decorations, cake, a beautiful globe from home office and a festive, family day atmosphere all helped us celebrate their nearly 50 years of ministerial service to God’s people. We are thankful for their dedication and pray they are truly blessed in their retirement years.
