The Home Away From Home
While attending the Feast of Tabernacles, a question came up multiple times: “What is ABC like?” As a current student this should be an easy question to answer, but when asked, the words to fully describe its meaning escaped my mind. After collecting my thoughts and comparing them to other related examples, the one that made the most sense was the parallel of ABC and a family.
The fathers are those that protect and watch over everyone to make sure all feel secure and safe. The mothers are caring and loving throughout each day, sometimes only needing to smile or say “Good morning!” to demonstrate those attributes. Brotherly attributes come across as energy and zeal, which make us anticipate and enjoy our bonding events. The sisterly attributes are the loving connections and appreciation we share for each other, which help to encourage everyone in the class, including the faculty, to be the best that they can be.
It may be strange to hear a classroom of former strangers being an active family after only knowing one another for a few months, but God the Father and Jesus Christ our Brother have given us the basis of it all: love. All we need to do is continue to follow the example of Jesus Christ and have love for God and one another (Matthew 22:39).
ABC has become a home. It is a wonderful blessing from God to be joined together and surrounded by family day in and day out
