United Youth Camps 2011
Cameroon
From July 10 to July 17, 2011, the United Church of God held a United Youth Camp in Cameroon. It was the second time for such a youth camp to take place in French-speaking Africa. The activities started on Sunday with a Bible study on constructive criticism in connection with Matthew 18. The next day we had a study on time management and another one on the importance of recognizing merit in working with each other.
Other activities included Frisbee, football, volleyball, marathon and indoor activities such as a Bible quiz and various cultural dances of Cameroon.
The rest of the time, each day began and ended with a Bible study. During the day, several sports and educational activities took place at the Parcours Vita—a center for sport and physical activities built by the Cameroonian Ministry of Physical Education and Sports under the supervision of the Cameroon army.
This track consists of a 2,700 meter course of 20 hurdles and various obstacles, giving everyone the ability to do things according their level.
Twelve young people were able to participate in this camp. Mr. Mabout, Mr. Andang, Mr. Barthelemy, Mr. Gouet and three coaches of the Cameroonian army served extensively during the camp. Mrs. Mabout and Mrs. Bikoé took care of the kitchen responsibilities.
During the Sabbath, Mr. Ndjok gave a sermonette and Mr. Mabout the sermon. The evening after, we played games using the biblical Word of God. We had a general assessment of all the activities that we held; three youths were honored for their behavior during the camp: Miss Laurette Ball, Mabout Elisha Moses Jr. and Moses Mabout Yvon.
The church in Cameroon would like to express its gratitude to the home office and to all the brothers and sisters near and far who made this camp possible by their help and guidance.
