Letter From Dan Preston

Good evening all and Happy Sabbath!
Take good care of it
When you were a kid, did you ever receive a present - maybe a bicycle or new pet, and hear these words from your parents: "It's yours now, make sure and take good care of it."
As children, we probably didn't always do so great at this, at least not right away. But over time, we learned responsibility taking care of what it was. Perhaps you've even gotten to the point in life where you've shared this admonishment with your own children.
Something more valuable
As adults you're probably grateful for the lessons your parents helped you learn as a youngster. You've gotten bigger responsibilities to take care of, like a house, car, spouse and children. All of these things are areas where we can apply the principles of being a good steward.
As baptized members of the body of Christ, we've been given something even more valuable. That of course is the Holy Spirit. But you might be wondering, how exactly do I take care of that? Isn't it supposed to take care of me?
Be a good steward
While God does take care of us via the Holy Spirit, we still have a responsibility concerning it. First and foremost, we must understand what a great a precious gift it is.
Second, we must use it. Like a new bike or a pet, God expects us to make use of and interact with this precious gift He has given us. In tomorrow's message, we'll take a look at what it is we can do to make use of the wonderful gift of the Holy Spirit!
