Some people whom we consider heroes have really done nothing heroic. Their circumstances have allowed them to do what they did. Other heroes are never applauded. One lady and her husband come to mind. They took in over 50 handicapped children during their lifetime. When they retired, they had many grandchildren. A picture of them with children and grandchildren showed a lot of smiling faces. To these children, there was no one like this mom and dad—their heroes.

Unselfishly caring for those less fortunate brings its own reward. God's Word tells us to look after widows and orphans. Not all of us can do what they did, but in many small ways we can all lend a helping hand.
