We reach out and shake one another's hand as a sign of friendship, approval, greeting and so on. We sign off on contracts with handshakes and express our satisfaction with agreements. The Bible has many references to the hands of people. God said He took Israel by the hand to lead them out of Egypt (Hebrews 8:9). We generally consider handshakes to be a positive and good sign.

Indira Gandhi wrote, "You cannot shake hands with a clenched fist." A fist is something we fight with or use to threaten others. It is the opposite of acceptance, recognition, respect and kindness. Paul rejoiced in the "right hand of fellowship" given to him (Galatians 2:9). There is something good and wholesome about a warm and friendly handshake.
