Austin, Minnesota, Congregation Honors its Graduates
The Austin, Minnesota, congregation honored its high school graduates with a special recognition at Sabbath services on Saturday, June 25th.
Dave Schreiber read from Dr. Seuss’s book Oh, The Places You Will Go! and then presented a gift and a book to each graduate, which their Austin church family signed. The grads were also honored with a reception of cake and punch after services. Gayle Baylor made and decorated her specialty carrot cake, which was delicous!
The three graduates—Amanda Boyer, Katlyn Whynaucht and Derek Riess—have made many contributions during their high school years and have been active in United Church of God services and activities. All have been volunteers at United’s annual Ironwood Springs pre-teen camp, and all three have participated in summer and winter teen camps. It’s exciting to watch them grow from small children into such fine young men and women.
The congregation wished them much success in their future endeavors. Katlyn and Derek plan to pursue secondary education opportunities this fall, and Amanda will be attending ABC. The teens in the Austin church congratulated them as well and spent a little extra time with each of the graduates.
