2016 Feast of Tabernacles Report
Gatlinburg, Tennessee, United States
The divine nourishment in sermonettes, sermons, Bible studies and a Bible seminar proved richly meaningful and spiritually profitable. The critical aspects of picturing the Kingdom of God and the coming millennium of peace under Jesus Christ—and how we should prepare for it—was the major theme during our time together.
A willing spirit of service was obvious throughout the Feast. Numerous volunteers assisted in door-greeting, technical operations, special services, ushering, mother’s room, youth instruction, chorale, special music and many other areas.
Two enjoyable family events were held. These including an afternoon at Ripley's Aquarium of the Smokies and our family fest, featuring a tasteful buffet dinner, talent showcase and dance. Teens and their families also enjoyed a fun afternoon at the Ober Gatlinburg Amusement Park.
Brethren contributed liberally to our Family Helping Family fund, which made it possible for those who could not afford to attend our family events to have the opportunity to do so. Members also provided generous donations of many needed items for a local woman’s shelter. Sixty boxes of goods were collected and donated. Financial assistance of over $1,200 was also provided by the brethren.
One of the highlights of the festival occurred after services on Friday when small stuffed animals were given to over 150 children attending the Feast. Parents and other members donated these furry gifts, which symbolized to the children how the world will be in harmony in the Kingdom of God.
Additionally, many greeting cards signed by the attendees were sent to brethren who were unable to attend the Feast this year.
We all had a wonderful time and now look ahead to that amazing period when the whole world will experience genuine joy and peace in God’s coming, perfect age pictured by God’s Feast of Tabernacles and the Eighth Day!
