2018 Feast of Tabernacles
Evian-les-Bains, France
We were blessed with the largest number of visitors since the early 1990s, providing for wonderful messages and an outstanding special music program. In addition to our daily services alternating between French and English, we enjoyed a special hymn singing hour (all the English speakers learned to sing in French!), interactive Bible studies for English and French speakers, youth festival instruction and a wonderful talent show and dance—we really made an impression on the resort staff in how people can have good, clean fun! Having a bounce house for the kids every day made a big impression too! We rejoiced in exceptionally beautiful weather and with an equally beautiful spirit of love and concern one for another. So many people pitched in and contributed to making the eight days very special.
We enjoyed excursions to the medieval town of Gruyères, famous for its cheese and beautiful alpine views, as well as Chamonix where many visited a glacier and ice cave museum, and a cable-car ride for beautiful views of western Europe’s highest mountain, the Mont Blanc. We also visited the lakeside village of Yvoire and the high-alpine mountain pastures of Les Linderets. Many just enjoyed the lakefront promenade and local Evian restaurants with one feastgoer bringing her empty water bottles and helping herself to the free Evian water flowing from the fountain in the town square.
What really made the Feast special was just being able to spend time together, all in one place over a meal, or over a nice piece of blueberry pie overlooking the mountains on one of the excursions, after dinner in the lakefront bar, or jogging together in the morning along the lake. It’s God’s people being together and His Holy Spirit being poured out abundantly that we all treasure.
