2019 Camp Report
Preteen Camp Piney Woods
In addition to the daily Christian Living classes and numerous teaching moments, we enjoyed a number of activities including fishing, swimming, crafts, baking, a dunking booth and sports (gymnastics, basketball, dodge ball, gaga ball), among other adventures.
Parents were there to see the end-of-camp awards ceremony where the campers sang two music pieces—“All Things Bright and Beautiful” and “Rejoice in God Today,” which was written specifically for this camp by Mrs. Mary Beth Phillip, who also directed the kids.
UYC allows campers and staff alike to stretch ourselves in areas that may be uncomfortable for us, while doing so in a loving, safe Zone. It is a wonderful opportunity for all of us to exercise and use the gifts God has blessed us with.
Having the camp at the UCG Big Sandy church building provided comfort for the indoor activities, and also allowed the campers to enjoy wonderful homemade meals and desserts each day which were prepared by the camp staff and the local East Texas brethren.
We’re grateful to our Father in Heaven for blessing us with a wonderful, safe camp. Three times storms threatened our outdoor activities but not once did any hit. We pray that everyone involved will be more determined than ever to live God’s way today.
