[Darris McNeely] On Beyond Today, one of our consistent themes is Bible prophecy. And those of you that watch us on a regular basis know that we are continually watching the role of the United States on the world scene and the prophecies that apply to America, the English speaking peoples, especially in regard to end time prophecies. I was watching the Financial Times, reading actually today's version here Monday April 1st, actually a day later, but they had an article on the front page talking about the Euro problems of the finances of the European Union and the connection to the role the American dollar has as the reserve currency of the world and it's dominating impact on the world scene. And it says because of the continuing problems in Europe, "The Euro's challenge to American status of the United States dollar has been set back a generation as new data show developing countries dumping the European currency from their official reserves." Now it goes on to show that upwards of 60% of foreign reserves are still held in American dollars, pointing to this fact that America's role in the world as a financial powerhouse has not yet declined to the point that it is so precipitous that a major change is going to take place. Which leads us to the question: what does this mean prophetically? What does it mean for America on the world scene? What does it mean for the individual in terms of repentance before God?

[Steve Myers] I think those are amazing questions because all too often we look at prophecy and we just see doom and gloom.

[Darris McNeely] Yes.

[Steve Myers] And we see, well, when is it going to be over? Maybe that's one of the biggest questions we have asked. Well, how soon and when and, you know, we don't have much time type of thing. And what's interesting about this article is it's almost like a little glimmer that there is time, and it seems that it's not all over yet and there is time. And it reminded me of Ecclesiastes…

[Darris McNeely] Time for repentance.

[Steve Myers] Especially time for repentance. And Ecclesiastes is that passage that came to mind. In chapter 2 it talks all about types of things—I mean chapter 3, sorry, where it talks about a time whether it's to be born or die or plant or heal, to build up (Ecclesiastes 3:1-8). And I think it helps us to really frame our lives. There's time. There's time for you to develop your relationship with God. It's not over yet, and actually it means that much more seriousness in the fact that I better take that time.

[Darris McNeely] Yes.

[Steve Myers] I better take that time to do what's right and do what's necessary.

[Darris McNeely] America and the English speaking peoples have had a unique role in the world in the last few hundred years, and that is because of the promises God made to Abraham. And these nations in the modern times have been recipients of those promises. Now, with that blessing comes great responsibility that Bible prophecy that shows God will one day hold accountable. But at this point in time it might be good for us to step back and take a broader look at this and recognize that God has not yet pulled the plug on the world order that we see in front of us, and that leads us to opportunity to respond to the gospel of Jesus Christ and the Kingdom of God. And there is time for repentance.
