[Steve Myers] The other day, it was kind of cloudy and I went to run from the store out to my car, I took a look and thought, "Ah, it's gonna be fine." So I started walking, and all of a sudden, pooh, here's this downpour. And so I took off trying to run to the car. By the time I got there, I was totally soaked, just absolutely drenched. I'd even tried to put my coat up over my head, but it was absolutely no help whatsoever. And it reminded me of a psalm. Well, actually, it's a passage that's in Isaiah, in Isaiah 4, it talks about a covering. And it's not just a covering from the rain, in fact, this is a prophetic section of scripture. And in Isaiah 4, it's a prophecy about the future. And in verse 5, it says this, "Then the Lord will create above every dwelling place of Mount Zion and above her assemblies a cloud and smoke by day and the shining of a flaming fire by night."

Kind of hearkening back to the Exodus. It says, "For over all the glory there will be a covering." In fact, the old King James says, "a defense." It says, "There will be a tabernacle for shade in the daytime from the heat for a place of refuge, and for a shelter from the storm and rain."

You see, when life brings us those showers, not just physical rain showers, or even if it's the heat that can burn us up, the difficulties and challenges that we may face, we look to God. Ultimately, Christ is gonna return and He will be our refuge, He will establish a covering over us. But for us today, we can have that covering now. We can have His protection, we can have His guidance. As we submit our lives to Him, He promises to be a tabernacle for the shade to protect us from the heat, to keep us from the storm and the rain.

So don't forget, even though you might be drenched in the rain today, we can look to God and we can understand we have a spiritual covering in our great God.
