Sometimes we can focus more on what we “can’t do” versus what we “can do” as we observe the weekly Sabbath. This special and holy day is set apart from all other days and was given to humanity as a tremendous blessing. Jesus Christ observed the Sabbath and demonstrated the importance of God’s people coming together weekly to “remember the Sabbath day to keep it holy.” Jesus changed lives on the Sabbath with those who were present with Him. He taught those who would listen the true intent of this day. We have the wonderful opportunity to come together in person before our God. What an incredible thing we “can do” on this special day!

Michael Phelps and his wife Laura, and daughter Kelsey, attend the Ann Arbor, Detroit, and Flint Michigan congregations, where Michael serves as pastor.  Michael and Laura both grew up in the Church of God.  They attended Ambassador University in Big Sandy for two years (1994-96) then returned home to complete their Bachelor's Degrees.  Michael enjoys serving in the local congregations as well as with the pre-teen and teen camp programs.  He also enjoys spending time with his family, gardening, and running.
