God answered Solomon’s humble request for help in ruling His people Israel by giving him great wisdom, which Solomon shares with us in the books of Proverbs and Ecclesiastes. But God did not give Solomon righteous character, which comes only with time and the experience of making wise choices. We can learn much not only from Solomon’s wise advice, but also by his unwise decisions. He learned that the most important thing we can do is to fear God and keep His commandments.
