The word "treasure" can conjure up images and feelings in human beings that can be very powerful and drive people to do amazing things. Do you have a treasure? Where is it? What is it made of and are you pursuing it? Why?

Sermon Notes

What is the value of Eternal Salvation?  Absurd question!!
Mat 6:19  "Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal;
Mat 6:20  but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal.
Mat 6:21  For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

Mat 13:44  "Again, the kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field, which a man found and hid; and for joy, over it, he goes and sells all that he has and buys that field.
(Mat 13:45)  "Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant seeking beautiful pearls,
(Mat 13:46)  who, when he had found one pearl of great price, went and sold all that he had and bought it.
Col 2:1  For I want you to know what a great conflict I have for you and those in Laodicea, and for as many as have not seen my face in the flesh,
Col 2:2  that their hearts may be encouraged, being knit together in love, and attaining to all riches of the full assurance of understanding, to the knowledge of the mystery of God, both of the Father and of Christ,
Col 2:3  in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.
Heb 2:9  But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels, for the suffering of death crowned with glory and honor, that He, by the grace of God, might taste death for everyone.
Heb 2:10  For it was fitting for Him, for whom are all things and by whom are all things, in bringing many sons to glory, to make the captain of their salvation perfect through sufferings.
Heb 2:11  For both He who sanctifies and those who are being sanctified are all of one, for which reason He is not ashamed to call them brethren,
Heb 2:12  saying: "I WILL DECLARE YOUR NAME TO MY BRETHREN; IN THE MIDST OF THE ASSEMBLY I WILL SING PRAISE TO YOU."
Heb 2:13  And again: "I WILL PUT MY TRUST IN HIM." And again: "HERE AM I AND THE CHILDREN WHOM GOD HAS GIVEN ME."

1Pe 1:18  knowing that you were not redeemed with corruptible things, like silver or gold, from your aimless conduct received by tradition from your fathers,
1Pe 1:19  but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot.
Testing of Your Faith
Jas 1:2  My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials,
Jas 1:3  knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience.
Jas 1:4  But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing.

Born Again to a Living Hope
1Pe 1:3  Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His abundant mercy has begotten us again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,
1Pe 1:4  to an inheritance incorruptible and undefiled and that does not fade away, reserved in heaven for you,
1Pe 1:5  who are kept by the power of God through faith for salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.
1Pe 1:6  In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while, if need be, you have been grieved by various trials,
1Pe 1:7  that the genuineness of your faith, being much more precious than gold that perishes, though it is tested by fire, may be found to praise, honor, and glory at the revelation of Jesus Christ,
1Pe 1:8  whom having not seen you love. Though now you do not see Him, yet believing, you rejoice with joy inexpressible and full of glory,
1Pe 1:9  receiving the end of your faith—the salvation of your souls.
Heb 11:23  By faith Moses, when he was born, was hidden three months by his parents because they saw he was a beautiful child; and they were not afraid of the king's command.
Heb 11:24  By faith Moses, when he became of age, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh's daughter,
Heb 11:25  choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God than to enjoy the passing pleasures of sin,
Heb 11:26  esteeming the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures in Egypt; for he looked to the reward.
Heb 11:27  By faith he forsook Egypt, not fearing the wrath of the king; for he endured as seeing Him who is invisible.
Heb 11:28  By faith he kept the Passover and the sprinkling of blood, lest he who destroyed the firstborn should touch them.
Heb 11:29  By faith they passed through the Red Sea as by dry land, whereas the Egyptians, attempting to do so, were drowned.

FAITH EQUALS BELIEF, EQUALS ACTION!
The Parable of the Rich Fool
Luk 12:13  Then one from the crowd said to Him, "Teacher, tell my brother to divide the inheritance with me."
Luk 12:14  But He said to him, "Man, who made Me a judge or an arbitrator over you?"
Luk 12:15  And He said to them, "Take heed and beware of covetousness, for one's life does not consist in the abundance of the things he possesses."
Luk 12:16  Then He spoke a parable to them, saying: "The ground of a certain rich man yielded plentifully.
Luk 12:17  And he thought within himself, saying, 'What shall I do since I have no room to store my crops?'
Luk 12:18  So he said, 'I will do this: I will pull down my barns and build greater, and there I will store all my crops and my goods.
Luk 12:19  And I will say to my soul, "Soul, you have many goods laid up for many years; take your ease; eat, drink, and be merry." '
Luk 12:20  But God said to him, 'Fool! This night your soul will be required of you; then whose will those things be which you have provided?'

Where your treasure is...

Mar 4:13  And He said to them, "Do you not understand this parable? How then will you understand all the parables?
Mar 4:14  The sower sows the word.
Mar 4:15  And these are the ones by the wayside where the word is sown. When they hear, Satan comes immediately and takes away the word that was sown in their hearts.
Mar 4:16  These likewise are the ones sown on stony ground who, when they hear the word, immediately receive it with gladness;
Mar 4:17  and they have no root in themselves, and so endure only for a time. Afterward, when tribulation or persecution arises for the word's sake, immediately they stumble.
Mar 4:18  Now these are the ones sown among thorns; they are the ones who hear the word,
Mar 4:19  and the cares of this world, the deceitfulness of riches, and the desires for other things entering in choke the word, and it becomes unfruitful.
Mar 4:20  But these are the ones sown on good ground, those who hear the word, accept it, and bear fruit: some thirtyfold, some sixty, and some a hundred."

The Rich Young Man
Mat 19:16  Now behold, one came and said to Him, "Good Teacher, what good thing shall I do that I may have eternal life?"
Mat 19:17  So He said to him, "Why do you call Me good? No one is good but One, that is, God. But if you want to enter into life, keep the commandments."
Mat 19:18  He said to Him, "Which ones?" Jesus said, " 'YOU SHALL NOT MURDER,' 'YOU SHALL NOT COMMIT ADULTERY,' 'YOU SHALL NOT STEAL,' 'YOU SHALL NOT BEAR FALSE WITNESS,'
Mat 19:19  'HONOR YOUR FATHER AND YOUR MOTHER,' and, 'YOU SHALL LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF.' "
Mat 19:20  The young man said to Him, "All these things I have kept from my youth. What do I still lack?"
Mat 19:21  Jesus said to him, "If you want to be perfect, go, sell what you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow Me."
Mat 19:22  But when the young man heard that saying, he went away sorrowful, for he had great possessions.

Luk 12:29  "And do not seek what you should eat or what you should drink, nor have an anxious mind.
Luk 12:30  For all these things the nations of the world seek after, and your Father knows that you need these things.
Luk 12:31  But seek the kingdom of God, and all these things shall be added to you.
(Luk 12:32)  "Do not fear, little flock, for it is your Father's good pleasure to give you the kingdom.
(Luk 12:33)  Sell what you have and give alms; provide yourselves money bags which do not grow old, a treasure in the heavens that does not fail, where no thief approaches nor moth destroys.
(Luk 12:34)  For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

Where is your treasure? Where is your HEART??

God and His Kingdom MUST come first. Everything else HE can add to us.
Is everyone here a Barnabas?
GOD wants us to look at His calling as a powerful gift. Nothing greater in the Universe!
