The Day of Trumpets is known by the Jews as Rosh Hashanah. It literally means the "head of the year" or 'first of the year" and is known as the Jewish New Year. The biblical name for this holiday is Yom Hazikarom or Yom Teruah and it is an awakening memorial, a day of remembrance, of sounding of the shofar and of shouting for joy. The sounding of the shofar or trumpets will accompany the return of Jesus Christ, the raising of the dead in Christ and a great shouting for joy in the future when God will establish His kingdom on earth. May we all be one of those who shout for joy and enter in by the narrow gate as we enter into eternal life!
